Success in a vehicle of this type depends on certain factors including driver skill, driver familiarity with their vehicle, ground clearance of the vehicle and most importantly – weather conditions on the day. We at Sani Mountain Lodge highly recommend coming up the Pass in a 4×4 vehicle. You will be allowed to attempt the Pass in a 4×2 vehicle (not a sedan vehicle) however if you are unable to make it up the Pass and other guests in 4×4 vehicles have made it, with the Pass being officially open, we are unable to refund your booking.
When is the best time to see snow?
It is impossible to predict when we will have snow at Sani Mountain Lodge as we do not have permanent snow on the ground throughout the winter. The conditions need to be just right for snow to fall. While snow fall has been recorded in history during each month of the year, the chances for snow are higher in June, July and August.
